Post hand held tool used to move ICs around from socket to tray??
HI all,

I am looking for a hand held tool that will move a single IC from one
place to another (usually from tray to socket). Not really an
insertion/extraction type tool, just one that will let me carefully
handle a 4mm x 4mm ICs that has pins on all 4 sides. The pins are
really close together and there is no way for a tweezer like tool to
handle it or get between the pins.

I need a suction like tool that can hold onto the top of the IC
(sucker like too). is there such a tool, I have seen it been used, but
i cannot find it anywhere... can someone point me to a link where I
can purchase one.

Thank
-Tony

Hi,, Tony. It's called a vacuum handling pen, and they're available
at Techni-Tool, among many other places. Just enter "vacuum" in the
search box on the main page, and see what you can afford:

http://www.techni-tool.com/

Or, if you're interested in scrounging around for surplus, you'll at
least have a better idea what you're looking for.

Good luck
Chris

And by the way, look at *real* tweezers while you're there. The
drugstore type just doesn't cut it. A good pair of tweezers should be
all a hobbyist needs for SMT work.

If you're lost in selecting something good, you could do a lot worse
than an AA-SA (272TW001). Rugged, general-purpose, and a good light
touch. I could do most SMT work with that alone.

Good luck
Chris
