Well, I know one that is not capable of detect specific trojan
viruses... happened to me, and I had to format and install again the
operating system.

No, it is unrealistic that the moment a virus is found in
the wild, that the AV company could get a copy of it and all
derivatives, study it, come up with detection code,
integrate that into an update, and get it out on a server
for customers... all within a day. Maybe in some cases they
can and do get this done in a day but it would not be
surprising when they couldn't even if working diligently at
it.
